Virtual Lock-In

For the second straight year, we had our annual lock-in virtually, but that did not stop us from having a blast! We had our general body meeting and elections for the new JYOC board, a fun cook-along vegan brownie making event led by Esha, and an exciting game night to cap off the day! Congratulations to the new JYOC board, and a special thank you to Esha for leading the cook-along event!

Virtual College Fair

Because our career fair was so popular, we decided to follow it up with a college fair! Current high schoolers were able to meet with college students from our Jain community from several different fields and schools to ask questions about applications, college life, advice, and more!
Day in the Park

JYOC was able to host its first in-person event of the year! Everybody hung out at the park at Cloverly Elementary School and played fun activities! It was a fun social event, as friends got to meet up and have fun with each other. It was a fun refresher to remind everyone how fun in-person events are!
Career Fair

A variety of speakers from our Jain community who are experienced in different fields came to talk about their career, and it was a great opportunity for high schoolers to learn about different careers!
Virtual Escape Room

Because our first escape room was such a success, we decided to host another one! Participants were teamed up and virtually ventured through London. They encountered many challenges which tested their communication and problem solving skills, and were able to get to the bottom of the mystery trapping them in the room. Congratulations to our winning team with the fastest time - Prisha, Shreya, Isha, and Jahanvi!
Adopt A Road Cleanup #4

Similar to our previous Adopt A Road cleanups, participants picked up trash within a two-mile span of Ammendale Road. Working with groups, people got both volunteer hours as well as fun! COVID-19 couldn't hold us down as everyone worked immensely hard to make the road cleaner than ever.
Codewords and Game Night

Following the blast at our previous Codenames tournament, we decided to host another one! Everyone had a great time working together with their peers to engage in a fiery tournament for the ultimate Codewords champions! Though virtually, individuals found their time to be exciting and just as fun.
Codenames Tournament

JYOC held their first codenames tournament this year! Although it was virutal, everyone had a great time! Teams of 3 people would compete against other teams in a tournament style format until there was one champion. Chemistry was a very important factor for teams in this tournament, and people were able to bond with their friends in order to beat other teams. Congratulations to our winners from Team Lion - Samkit, Harshvi, and Shrushti!
Virtual Escape Room

We held our first virtual escape room this year! It was a blast, including difficult Jain puzzles that engage everyone. Along with the thrill of venturing through an escape room, individuals got to communicate with other members in a group and get to know each other better. Congratulations to our winners from Group 3: Soumya, Manan, and Rishab!
Virtual Christmas Holiday Party

Although our Christmas Holiday Party was virtual this year, we still had a lot of fun to get everybody into the Christmas spirit as the winter holidays arrive with a virtual holiday party! We made cards for first responders and hospitalized kids at the Children's National Hospital, we made very pretty looking snowflakes, we played a Christmas themed family feud, and we ended with a variety of fun games!
Jnan Panchami

Jnan Panchami is a crucial Jain festival dedicated to worshipping knowledge. Many Jains perform specified Jnan Panchami pujas during this time. With the ongoing coronavirus going on, many people are unaware of ways to convert these practices to fit the space in our home. Halloween Event

As the Spooky Season came to an end, we decided to celebrate this lovable Holiday through virtual means. Coupled with catchy music and fun communication, we played excitingly popular games such as Codenames and Among Us. This event truly was a blast, and put everyone in the Halloween spirit!
Adopt A Road Cleanup #3

Similar to our previous cleanups, volunteers picked up trash along the two-mile span of Ammendale road in groups. This time however, precautionary measures were taken given the ongoing situation of COVID-19, where volunteers wore masks and adhered to social distancing rules. The road in front of the new Derasar is looking exceptionally clean!
